§ 15-27. Hospitalization of diseased persons, when required.

Whenever it shall appear to the director of public health that any person in this
city is afflicted with any contagious disease, and that such person is not being kept,
cared for, or treated in compliance with the requirements of this article, or any
other requirements or restrictions imposed by law upon such person, or that such person
neglects, fails or refuses to observe and obey any law for such cases made and provided,
it shall become the duty of the director of public health, and he is hereby authorized
and directed to proceed to remove, or cause to be removed, at once such afflicted
person to the contagious diseases annex of the county and city hospital or to any
other public hospital which may be established by ordinance of this city for the purpose
of treating contagious diseases, where such afflicted person shall be kept, cared
for and treated under the direction of the director of public health and at public
expense. At the option of the patient, he may be removed to any other hospital willing
to receive the patient, and, in the option of the director of public health, able
and willing to provide the required isolation, care and treatment.
