§ 19-131. Thirty miles per hour speed limit in certain districts.

Latest version.
  • As a result of an engineering and traffic investigation by the city department of traffic and transportation, the city council has determined that the prima facie reasonable and safe maximum speed limit on the public streets of the city, except as provided in section 19-132, is thirty (30) miles per hour. No person shall drive a vehicle on a city street at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the circumstances then existing. The limit of thirty (30) miles per hour shall be lawful but any speed in excess of thirty (30) miles per hour, except as provided in section 19-132, shall be prima facie evidence that speed is not reasonable or prudent and that it is unlawful.
