§ 25-42. Notice of sale; sale to highest bidder.

  • Thirty (30) days notice of the time and place of sale of all abandoned, stolen or recovered property, except bicycles, and in the case of bicycles, fifteen (15) days notice of the time and place of sale and a descriptive list of the property and bicycles to be offered for sale shall be posted at the door of the county courthouse and on the bulletin board located in the city hall lobby and a copy thereof shall be sent by certified mail to the last known address of the owner, in the event the name of the owner is known to the police chief. Thereafter, the property shall be offered for sale at public auction to the highest bidder for each piece of property or bicycle, or assembled in lots, whichever, in the discretion of the police chief, shall offer the best price obtainable for such property or vehicles.
