§ 28-44. In general.

  • (a)

    Special districts. Specific regulations for historic landmarks and districts, neighborhood conservation districts, corridor districts, river improvement overlay districts and other overlay districts are contained in chapter 35 of this Code.

    (b)

    Freestanding, multiple-tenant signs in non-residential zoning districts. Freestanding, multiple-tenant signs twenty-five (25) feet or more in height in non-residential zoning districts shall contain the address number of the sign clearly visible from the street with each numeral being a minimum of six (6) inches in height. Those signs less than twenty-five (25) feet in height shall contain an address number of the sign with each numeral being a minimum of three (3) inches in height. The portion of the sign utilized for minimum compliance with this subsection shall not be included in the calculation of sign area.

    (c)

    Incidental/way finding signs. Incidental/way finding signs may be erected in the city within the premises of an apartment complex and subdivision and commercial properties provided the signs do not exceed thirty-two (32) square feet in area and twelve (12) feet in height and they comply with applicable sections of chapters 35 and 37, but not spacing requirements. Under no circumstance shall any sign be erected so as to erode the safety and security of the traveling public.
